The tonnage figures are the supplier's claim and carry no certificate or test documentation. Take them as indications, not ratings you can rely on.
This is a pulling tool, not lifting equipment. Never use it to lift a load, suspend anything, or work beneath a load it is holding. Lifting requires certified, marked and inspected gear, and in most countries that is a legal requirement.
Safety
A wire rope under tension that lets go whips back with enormous force. Wear eye protection and heavy gloves. Stand to the side of the line of pull, never in line with it, and keep everyone else out of that line.
Check the jaw teeth are clean and sharp and that the rope diameter suits the grip — an undersized rope slips. Inspect wire rope for broken strands before pulling on it.
