This head uses steel wire, not nylon line. The listing says it is "not afraid of stones". That is exactly the problem: it does not break away like nylon, so the energy goes somewhere else.

Steel strands fray and break off, and the fragments are thrown at very high speed. They are thin, sharp and almost invisible in flight. They embed in skin and eyes and go through ordinary clothing. Steel also kicks back hard off solid objects and can catch and pull the machine.

Check your machine is rated for a steel cutting head at all. Most strimmers and almost all electric ones are nylon-line only, and fitting steel to a machine not designed for it is dangerous. Check the bore against your shaft.

If you use it: full face shield plus impact-rated glasses underneath, heavy long trousers, long sleeves, gloves and stout boots. Keep everyone and every animal at least 15 metres clear. Use a bike-handle machine with a harness and the correct guard. Never use it near cars, glass, windows or on gravel. Sweep the area afterwards for shed wire, especially where children or pets go.
