Match the needle to your nozzle size or go slightly under — a needle larger than the nozzle bore will widen it permanently, and then your prints are wrong in a way that is hard to diagnose.
Use
Clean the nozzle hot, from the outside in, with the printer at printing temperature so the residue is soft. Do not force a needle into a cold nozzle; you will snap it off inside, and that ends the nozzle.
A cold pull with cleaning filament clears most blockages better than a needle. Use the needle for the last of it.
Safety
The nozzle and heat block are at 200–260°C. Use pliers or gloves, never bare fingers, and keep clear of the heated bed. Do not lean over the hot end — some filaments give off irritating fumes when overheated, so ventilate. Keep the needles capped and away from children.
