Use a plain drill, not hammer mode. Hammer action cracks tile and glass.
Start slowly with tape over the spot so the tip does not wander, and keep the tip cool with water.
Carbide bits handle tile and soft masonry. They will not last long in hard concrete or engineering brick — use a proper SDS masonry bit for that.
Safety
Wear eye protection. Wear a dust mask — tile, porcelain and concrete dust contains silica, which permanently damages lungs.
Check for cables and pipes before drilling into a wall.
