Soldering Tip Refresher — Tinning Paste for Oxidised Iron Tips
A tin of tip refresher paste for reviving a soldering iron tip that has oxidised and stopped taking solder. The hot tip is dipped into the paste, which strips the oxide and re-tins it.

Use
Heat the iron, wipe it, then dip and rotate the tip in the paste for a few seconds and wipe again. It should come out bright and silver. Repeat once if needed.
Do not leave the tip in the paste and do not use it as a routine cleaner — it is mildly abrasive and chemically active, and overusing it wears the plating off. Use it to recover a tip, not to maintain one.
The real fix is prevention: tin the tip before you switch the iron off, every time. A tip left bare oxidises and eventually cannot be recovered at all.
Safety
It smokes when the hot tip goes in. Work with fume extraction or good ventilation and do not lean over it. Wear eye protection. Check the label — many of these pastes contain lead. Wash your hands after use and keep out of reach of children.
