Safety catch
Bypass shears are for live green wood. For dead or dry wood, anvil shears or a pruning saw work better. Check the maximum cutting diameter before ordering — forcing them through a thick branch bends the blade.
SK5 is carbon steel and rusts. Wipe and oil the blades after every use. Wipe them between plants if you are pruning diseased growth. Keep the safety catch on when not in use, and store out of reach of children.
Perfect for bonsai shaping with precise cuts, it trims tender flower branches smoothly without hurting plants. Lightweight for easy one-hand use. It opens and closes a bit stuck occasionally and needs lubrication, but the sharpness and workmanship are satisfying.
