Check that your device uses the 5.5 x 2.5mm barrel size — 5.5 x 2.1mm is also very common and will not fit properly. Check the polarity of your supply too.
Safety
This is a DC meter. Do not connect it to AC mains — it will be destroyed and it is dangerous.
12A is the limit, not a working target. Barrel connectors get hot near their rating; do not run continuously at the maximum.
It is a hobby-grade indicator, not a calibrated instrument. Expect a small error and do not rely on it for anything safety-critical.
