Never use a tester screwdriver as your proof that a circuit is dead. These miss live conductors behind shielding, in metal conduit or in screened cable, they fail silently with a weak battery, and they indicate falsely from induced voltage on nearby wiring.
Always prove dead with a two-pole voltage tester, and prove the tester on a known live source before and after. A tester screwdriver is an indication, never a confirmation. Test it on a known live circuit before every use.
Do not use it as a screwdriver on live work. Unless the product options confirm a VDE 1000V rating, the handle is not electrical insulation. Isolate and lock off first.
Keep the magnetic tip away from cards, hard drives and mechanical watches. Mains electrical work is regulated in many countries — if you are not qualified, use an electrician.
