The UV400 rating is the manufacturer's; we have not tested it independently. Photochromic lenses react to UV, so they darken less behind a windscreen, which blocks much of it — worth knowing if you are buying them mainly for driving. They also take a little time to clear when you come indoors.
They feel too cheap for my taste. The plastics used are hard and low quality, the photochromic quality is mediocre, and the frame fits badly over the lenses, making weird cracking sounds when you handle them. I guess they are still technically photochromic glasses for dirt cheap, so still 4 stars 😁
