Butyl and Aluminium Car Sound Deadening Damping Sheets

Butyl rubber damping sheets faced with aluminium, for the panels that ring and rattle - door skins, boot floor, wheel arches, bulkhead. Butyl adds mass and stops the panel resonating, which is a different job from putting foam over the noise.

How to use it

Clean and dry the panel, cut the sheet to shape, then peel the backing and press it down from the centre outwards. Roll it flat so it bonds hard to the metal - butyl works through contact. Aim for roughly a quarter to a half of each panel covered; full coverage adds weight for little extra benefit.
