What steam does and does not do
Hot steam is genuinely good at lifting grease and loosening baked-on grime, and it does it without detergent, which is the real appeal.
The listing claims it removes dust mites. Steam at sufficient temperature and dwell time does kill mites, but a handheld unit passing over a surface does not reliably reach that. Do not rely on it as an allergy treatment, and note it is not a certified disinfection device.
Safety — this produces scalding steam
Steam burns are worse than hot water burns. Never point it at yourself, another person or a pet. Keep children well away while it is in use and while it cools.
Never open the boiler cap while the unit is hot or under pressure. Let it cool and depressurise fully first.
Do not use it on electrical outlets, live appliances, or the inside of an air conditioner or range hood without isolating the power. Do not steam sealed wood floors, laminate, unglazed tile or anything the manufacturer says is heat sensitive — steam gets under finishes and lifts them.
Use distilled or filtered water if the manual says so; tap water scales the boiler. Empty the tank after use, and check the plug type against your country's supply before ordering.
