Back Probe Test Leads — 10 Piece 0.7mm Piercing Probe Set for Multimeters
A ten-piece set of fine 0.7mm needle probes and extension leads for a multimeter, for back-probing automotive connectors and testing a circuit without disconnecting it.
Key Features
- 10 pieces
- 0.7mm fine needle tips
- Back probe and piercing types
- Fits standard multimeter leads
Use — back probe, do not pierce if you can avoid it
Back probing (in through the rear of the connector, alongside the wire) is the right way to test a live circuit. It leaves no damage.
Piercing the insulation is a last resort. Every hole you make in automotive wiring lets water in, and corrosion under the insulation causes an intermittent fault months later that nobody can find. If you must pierce, seal the hole afterwards.
Be careful not to spread the terminal in the connector when back probing — a spread female terminal is a loose connection forever after.
Safety
Check the voltage and CAT rating of the probes against what you are testing. Fine needle probes are for low-voltage automotive and electronics work — they are not for mains.
The needles are sharp. Cap them, and keep them away from children. Take care around airbag circuits — do not probe them.
