Use
Keep a separate funnel for each fluid, or wash it thoroughly between uses. Coolant residue in an oil funnel, or vice versa, ends up in the engine.
Make sure the folding sections are locked fully open before pouring — a collapsible funnel that collapses mid-pour puts hot oil down the side of the engine.
Safety
Let the engine cool before opening any filler cap, and never open a coolant cap on a hot engine — the system is pressurised and it will scald you badly.
Wear gloves; used engine oil is a skin irritant and repeated contact is a known health risk. Take used oil to a proper recycling point — never pour it down a drain or onto the ground; that is illegal almost everywhere. Keep out of reach of children.
