Safety and welfare
If static mode is permitted where you are: never leave the collar on an unattended dog, never leave it on for more than a few hours at a time, and check the skin under the contact points daily — pressure sores from a tight collar are common and are caused by the strap, not the shock. Start at the lowest setting. Never use it on a puppy, a small or frail dog, a dog with a heart condition, or an anxious or aggressive dog.
Many trainers and vets consider aversive collars unnecessary and counterproductive. If you are dealing with a behaviour problem, a qualified behaviourist is a better first step than a shock collar.
The 3300ft range is a line-of-sight figure in open ground with nothing in the way. Real range through buildings, trees or hills is much shorter.
