Use — and the risk
Taps are hard and brittle and snap easily. A snapped tap in a hole is very difficult to remove and often ruins the workpiece.
Use the lowest drill speed, plenty of cutting fluid, and back the tap off regularly to clear the chips. Keep it square to the hole — a tap started at an angle will break. Do not use an impact driver.
Drill the correct tapping-size hole first; the wrong pilot size is the other main reason taps snap. Wear eye protection and clamp the workpiece.
