Important safety warning — please read
Never use a tester screwdriver as your proof that a circuit is dead. These are the least reliable voltage indicators available: they miss live conductors behind shielding or in metal conduit, they need a current path through your body to indicate at all, and they light from induced voltage on nearby wiring.
Always prove dead with a two-pole voltage tester, and prove the tester itself on a known live source before and after. A tester screwdriver is an indication, never a confirmation.
Do not use it as a screwdriver on live work. The shaft is a conductor by design — that is how it works. Isolate the supply and lock it off first.
Mains electrical work is regulated in many countries — if you are not qualified, use an electrician.
