- An additive will not repair a failed catalytic converter, and it will not make a vehicle pass an emissions test it would otherwise fail. A cat that has failed has usually failed because of an underlying fault — a misfire, burning oil or a bad sensor — and that is what needs fixing.
- Check whether it is for petrol or diesel, and check the dose per tank, before use. The wrong additive in the wrong fuel does harm.
- Do not overdose. More is not better with fuel additives.
