This is a cosmetic balm, not a medicine.Plumping lip products work by mildly irritating the lips — usually with capsicum, cinnamon, menthol or ginger. The tingle you feel is irritation, and the swelling that follows is the "plumping". It is temporary, it wears off within an hour or two, and it is a mild inflammatory reaction, not a treatment. It does not change your lips.
Safety
Patch test and wait 24 hours before first use. Stop if the tingling turns to burning, or if your lips swell noticeably, blister or become sore — that is a reaction, not the product working. Do not use on cracked, bleeding or cold-sore affected lips. Not suitable for children. Remember you swallow whatever you put on your lips — check the full ingredient list on the pack.
