Bark Scraping and Grafting Knife — U-Shaped Blade for Fruit Trees
A multi-purpose orchard knife for scraping rot and loose bark off fruit trees, ring-cutting (girdling) branches, and cutting grafts, with a U-shaped blade profile.
Key Features
- Scrapes rot and loose bark
- U-shaped blade for ring cutting
- Grafting cuts
- For orchard and garden work
Use
Sterilise the blade with alcohol between trees. A scraping or grafting knife moves disease from one tree to the next faster than anything else in the garden, and canker is exactly what you are usually cutting out.
Scrape only loose and rotten bark; healthy bark is the tree's protection. Ring cutting (girdling) is a technique that will kill a branch or a tree if done wrongly — read up on it before using it.
Safety
The blade is sharp and the cuts are made towards you with a scraping knife. Wear a cut-resistant glove on the hand holding the branch, and keep it out of the blade's path.
Cap or sheath the blade when not in use. Keep it dry so it does not rust, and keep out of reach of children.
