Before you rely on it
Check it on a surface you know is level, and check it both ways round — set it down, note the reading, then turn it 180 degrees in place. A true gauge reads the same both ways. Moulded gauges at this price are not always accurate out of the box.
The magnet holds on steel and cast iron only, not on aluminium saw tables.
Use
A bubble gauge is read at eye level and square on; reading it at an angle introduces error. It is a workshop tool, not a calibrated or certified instrument.
Keep the magnet away from cards, hard drives and mechanical watches.
