Mini Spirit Level — 3 Bubble Magnetic Pocket Level

A small pocket spirit level in an ABS shell with three bubble vials — horizontal, vertical and 45 degrees — and a magnetic base that holds it to steel.

The magnet is useful on steel beams, pipes, machinery and appliance frames, where it holds itself in place and frees both hands.

Before you rely on it

Check it against a surface you know is level, and check it both ways round. Put it down, note the reading, then turn it 180 degrees in place: a true level reads the same both ways. Small moulded levels are not always accurate out of the box, and the vials cannot usually be adjusted.

A short level is only accurate over a short distance. Do not use a pocket level to set a long run — a tiny error over 100mm becomes a large one over two metres. Use a long level or a laser for that.

Keep the magnet away from cards, hard drives and mechanical watches.
