Before you order — this catches people out
Check whether you need a left-to-right or right-to-left reading scale, and where the zero sits. These are sold in both directions and in "centre zero" versions, and sticking the wrong one down is a wasted tape — it does not come off cleanly.
Check the width against your track slot.
Fitting
Dry fit and mark the position before peeling the backing. Clean and degrease the surface, work in the warm, and set the zero against a known reference — the whole value of the scale is that its zero matches your blade or cutter.
Check the reading against a trusted rule after fitting. Treat it as a setting aid, not a precision instrument; for a critical cut, measure the workpiece.
