This is a weld-in part. It is not a bolt-on. Extra piping and fabrication are usually needed, and your mechanic will charge for that separately. That cost is not included here.
An exhaust cutout does not add meaningful power on a standard road car. Any gain is small and depends entirely on the rest of the exhaust and the engine. We make no power claim for it.
Noise and emissions — important
Opening the cutout bypasses the muffler and, on most vehicles, the rear of the exhaust system. That is loud, and in the UK, EU and most US states it is illegal on a public road. It may also fail an MOT, state inspection or noise check.
If the cutout is fitted ahead of the catalytic converter it becomes an emissions-defeat device, which is illegal for road use in the US under the Clean Air Act and in the EU under type-approval rules. Fit it behind the cat, or keep the vehicle off-road.
